The Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Prince Kwakye Afiriyie on behalf of the former Member of Parliament for Wenchi Constituency, Professor George Gyan Baffour on Thursday June 03,2021 cut sod for the construction of road networks within the Municipality.
In all Droboso- Tadieso, Akrobi- Kanaase -Agubie in the municipality would benefit from a total of 27.5 kilometres.
The 27.5 kilometres road network was awarded to Prop Bureau Construction Limited with the next seventeen months period.
Addressing the Chiefs and people of Akrobi and Droboso at a short sod cutting ceremony, Dr. Prince Kwakye Afiriyie said some of the communities within the Municipality have challenges with their road networks with some becoming unreachable particularly during the raining season.
This project was to come to aid residents through the construction of the road to make movement easier he said.
He explained that it is the objective of government to tar all roads networks in the country.
It is now the turn of Droboso – Tadieso, Akrobi – Kanaase-Agubie to benefit from a tar road network from the project to improve on its road network the MCE noted.
Dr. Prince Kwakye Afiriyie further explained that government has plans to improve road networks in the municipality.
He commended Professor George Gyan Baffour for always lobbying for the development of the area though he was voted out of Parliament during the 2020 Parliamentary election but this could not stopped him to continue to support the municipality to bring more development.
The MCE called on the people to continue to support Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP government.
The contractor,Agya Yaw called on the people who have erected kiosks along the roads to remove them to pave way for construction work to start.
The Chief of Droboso and also Kyidomhene of Wenchi Traditional Area, Nana Sarfo Kantanka expressed his satisfaction to government, Professor George Gyan Baffour and the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Prince Kwakye Afiriyie for fulfilled their promise to the people of the benefited areas.
Nana Sarfo Kantanka also commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the introduction of the Free Senior High School policy in the country and therefore called on government to fix challenges confronting the Free SHS with the immediate effect.
