A/R: MTN Ghana distributes 30 hampers to babies born on Christmas Day

As part of activities to mark the Christmas festivities, Management and staff of MTN Ghana have distributed 30 hampers to babies born on 25th Day of December at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital .

The hampers, each comprising blankets, diapers, towels, shawls, bibs, toiletries, clothes and other baby essentials were distributed to mothers who gave birth on 25th December, a day set aside to celebrate the birth of Christ.

Addressing the media after handing out hampers to the mothers, the Acting General Manager of MTN Northern Sector, Madam, Adwoa Afrakoma Obeng Baah , disclosed that the gesture forms part a number of charity activities lined up by the telecommunication giants to celebrate the festivities.

“It’s a special part of the year and the MTN Ghana as part of its end of year activities organizes this special hamper to babies born during the Christmas season. So it’s something we do every year and we have employee volunteers who distribute the hampers to the babies born at this time of the year”.

“We have been receiving positive feedbacks. It’s the season of giving and sharing and MTN is taking its place within this space and all the nurses, mothers and I’m sure babies alike are all happy”, she said.

Since its inception in 2011, the MTN Ghana Foundation has donated over 1600 hampers to babies born between 25th and 26th December.

Speaking to section of the overjoyed mothers who benefited from these gestures from MTN , they expressed their gratitude to the management and staff of MTN for showing much love to them at this moment.

They heaped praises on them and called on other corporate institutions to emulate MTN .
At the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital MB Recovery Unit a Staff Nursing, Ms. Bio Ophelia welcomed the MTN officials and expressed her gratitude to MTN Ghana Foundation for the kind gesture.

Statistics at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital revealed that, 18 babies were born on 25th December, 10 males and 8 females.

On the 26th 12 other babies were delivered.
