Hon. Rdiwan Abass Dauda, NPP Member of Parliament for the Sissala East Constituency in the Upper West Region has pledged to work with his contender whom he lost to in the NPP Parliamentary primaries to retain the seat for the New Patriotic Party.
According to him, though he lost the party primaries, supporting the new parliamentary candidate to retain the seat is the supreme interest of the party.
That, he said, would achieve unity and cohesion in the constituency to enable the party retain the parliamentary seat and increase votes in the presidential election.
Hon. Ridwan Abass Dauda who won the parliamentary seat for the NPP for the first time in the seventh Parliament of the fourth republic in one -on-one interview on Ashh Fm’s National Agenda Friday September, 2020 , pledged to continue to work even harder to champion development in the constituency and create prosperity and healthy living for the people.
The Sissala East Parliamentary seat was held by the NDC and PNC since 1992 until 2016 when the NPP broke the jinx and won it for the first time.
Ridwan Abass Dauda obtained: 8,811 votes out of the 25,501 valid votes cast= 35.34%. Others: Kanton Kingsley Kasim (PNC), 8,015=32.14%, Alijata Sulemana Gbentie (NDC) 7,846=31.47%, Abiba Fidelia Mohammed (CPP) 95=0.38%, Tahiru Hamuru (UFP) 93=0.37% and Abdul-Barri Jaasu Zakaria (GCPP) 75=0.30%.
Hon. Dauda disclosed to show host Oderfour Qwasi Kay that,’’ for the first time NPP won the Parliamentary and Presidential respectively in 2016 under my auspices, Nana Akufo-Addo polled 11,559 representing 46.70% and John Mahama polled 10,466 representing 42.28% this is the kind of work I did for the party to snatch the seat from our opponents.’’
According to him, the infrastructure development he has brought to the area and support in education among others is very remarkable.
In Education he said he has been able to support his constituents, adding that, in 2019 he absorbed mock fees for the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in public schools in the Municipality.
He said, he promised the youth of getting them sustainable jobs and he has been able to seek employment for people in various sectors including Police , Immigration Service and others government institutions.
‘’so I must tell you that I have not disappointed my people ,though I’m not going to Parliament in 2021, but I think all hands must be on deck for the party to win majority seats in parliament and also retain H.E Nana Addo Dankwa –Akufo Addo as the President of the Republic’ he stated.
